Hello everyone, another Psoriatic Arthritis person in the camp!

by kezza1 on 29 November 2009

Well, here I am at last! Decided to join this blogspot for some support and have finally gotten around to registering. I am 44,have Psoriatic Arthritis and have been diagnosed sinceDecember 2007.

I have had to make a few life-changing decisions since my diagnosis including a complete change in career(from Head Chef to working for the Civil Service!)but I realise that I am lucky still to be able to manage to work, even though I am exhausted at the end of the working week.

I am currently taking MTX 20mg,leflunomide and good old diclofenac, tramadol and paracetamol for pain relief(!)I am due to start MTX injections on Tuesday and have to attend as a day case to learn how to stab myself, oops I mean inject myself correctly. I must admit, not looking forward to it one little bit,but hey,it's just another hurdle to jump,I'm sure I will be fine!  My arthritis(it is mine, and no-one else's!)affects mainly my wrists, hands, fingers, toes, knees andankles-I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere!

I wear wrist splints and also an ankle brace (I need an ankle fusion, but am delaying it for obvious reasons as long as I can)try the brace first,I can always take it off if it doesn't help! So,I am basically held together with velcro and fibreglass!!

I will keep this post short(and sweet,I hope) as I have never posted a blog before and I am not even sure if this is right or not!

Look forward to any comments advice etc....take care all,I feel I know you already! K x

Hi and welcome to the blogs.

Your blog is great...no right or wrong we're all friends together. I certainly find it very helpful to hear about other people's experiences and high and low spots.

Good luck with the injections; will be well worth it :-)

Hi my first blog on here, after getting past the NHS's superb IT operations where the link didn't work etc etc!!!

Anyway, I am waiting for the Infusion dept to call me to arrange a date to start Pamidronate infusions for my PA.

Has anyone tried this treatment and offer and advice at all?

Thanks

Nigel
